“To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.”                                                                                                    "Activism is the rent I pay for living on this planet."

                                                                                - Eleanor Roosevelt                                                                                                                                                                 - Alice Walker

To me, activism and leadership are very closely aligned. Being a leader and an activist means recognizing the needs of your community as well as its strengths - and combining my needs and strengths with those of the community to help both of us grow. It's about filling in the gaps that exist in us as individuals and us as a collective group.
